Sound is the original trade at Creative Sound & Vision. Before home cinema, Ray spent decades as an audio engineer for touring artists and major festivals, and that ear is exactly what a good multi-room system needs. Most in-ceiling speakers sound thin because they are put wherever the ceiling is easiest to cut. Ray places them for the room, the furniture and the listening position.
01What we install
- In-ceiling speakers for kitchens, living areas, bedrooms and bathrooms.
- In-wall speakers for home theatre surrounds and feature walls.
- Outdoor speakers for decks, alfresco areas and pools.
- Multi-room streaming systems controlled from a phone app, with each zone playing its own music or all playing together.
- Amplifiers and streamers neatly installed in a cabinet or comms rack.
- Speaker cable pre-wiring for new builds and renovations.
02Why placement and tuning matter
Two speakers in the wrong spots make a room sound worse, not better. Ray works out coverage so there are no dead spots or harsh areas, keeps speakers clear of downlights and ceiling joists, and tunes the system once it is in. The result is music that fills the room evenly at a low volume, which is how most people actually listen at home.
- Kitchen and living
- Usually two to four ceiling speakers, placed for even coverage across the bench and lounge.
- Deck and alfresco
- Weather-rated speakers aimed into the space, not at the neighbours.
- Home theatre
- In-wall or in-ceiling surrounds that disappear into the room. See home theatre systems.
- Just the TV
- Sometimes a good soundbar is the better answer. See soundbars and sound systems.
03Common questions
Can ceiling speakers be installed in an existing home?
Yes, in most single-storey homes and many upper floors with roof access. Cables are run through the roof space to each speaker.
Can I control the music from my phone?
Yes. Multi-room systems are set up on your Wi-Fi and controlled from an app, room by room or all at once.
Do ceiling speakers sound as good as bookshelf speakers?
Quality in-ceiling speakers, correctly placed and tuned, sound excellent for music around the house. For a dedicated cinema Ray may recommend in-wall or floor-standing speakers.
Will my Wi-Fi handle it?
Ray checks coverage first and adds an access point if a zone is in a weak spot.
